Mayday Mayday! Activists target climate snatchers around the country.

Leamington Rising Tide and People and Planet visited the E.on headquarters at Westwood Business Park in Coventry to expose the truth behind E.on's greenwash and show that carbon capture is a false solution to the problem of climate change. People arrived at 8am to hand fliers to the workers. One protester occupied the roof of the building. Banners were erected reading "POLLUTE.ON NO MORE GREEN WASH". There was juggling and a picnic outside the doors of the building as the protestors waited for a march of students from Warwick University People and Planet to arrive at 1.30. The marchers came with a replica model of the coal power station and a game of 'catch the carbon' with balloons and nets. The protesters gathered outside the building and then the sign outside was painted green to symbolise the e.ons greenwash.

Fossil Fools Day was such a great sucess - Now is not the time to pause for breath, now is the time to continue building out networks, continue skill sharing and continue taking action! This summer the Camp for Climate Action will pitch its tents outside Kingsnorth coal-fired power station in Kent for a week of education, sustainable living and direct action. Everyone is invited to the camp, which is now part of an international movement, with eight climate camps on four continents planned for this summer. Together, we will show that the blind pursuit of economic growth at any cost is simply insane, and is to blame for the CO² emissions and ecosystem destruction that are causing catastrophic climate change.

Shell’s two year tenure as sponsor of the Natural History Museum’s ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ exhibition has come to an end. A determined, creative two year national campaign, coordinated in part by the direct action group Rising Tide and its Art Not Oil (1) campaign, helped to force the NHM to ditch Shell.

On the Rising Tide front, six new groups have formed in the last six months, with more people writing in all the time. Activists from London Rising Tide staged a 'die-in' in the BP sponsored Tate Britain on 4 January. Bob Jones from LRT said, "We're here to demand that the Tate cut its ties with BP; an art gallery is no place for an environmental hazard such as an oil company".

"BP are here to greenwash their image and distract from the ecological devastation they're causing around the world". The protesters handed out lots of leaflets and urged patrons to demand the end of oil company sponsorship of art galleries. (CLICK 'read more' TO SEE VIDEO)

On 3rd January 2008, at about lunch time, the LRT Greenwash Guerrillas discovered a major source of greenwash at Shell HQ in Waterloo, London. The Guerrillas entered the lobby for an inspection but were so repelled by the Greenwash that they had to leave (the security assisting their escape).
